I curated this artifact to bring the elegant gaze of Japan's ancient capital into your life: the aesthetic desire to capture the fleeting, organic shapes of nature and reconstruct them in eternal materials.
The Heritage: The Refinement of Kyoto "Shoami Takano" is a renowned kiln located in Obaku, Kyoto. It carries the bloodline of Kyo-yaki (Kyoto ware), a tradition defined by the ultimate refinement and sophistication of the ancient capital. This is not a mass-produced souvenir; it is a physical manifestation of Kyoto’s highly cultivated ceramic history.
The Aesthetics: A Masterpiece of Blue and White This vessel is a physical reconstruction of a natural melon, formed entirely from pristine white porcelain. The intricate, deep blue graphics dancing across its surface are not printed. They are the result of "Sometsuke," a traditional technique where cobalt pigment is meticulously hand-painted directly onto the unglazed clay. Fired at extreme temperatures, the graphic and the earth become permanently fused. It is a highly precise art piece disguised as a simple fruit.
The Joy of Integration (How to style in your home)
-
A Resting Place for Fine Jewelry: Originally crafted as a "Kogo" (a container for incense in the tea ceremony), its palm-sized scale functions perfectly in a modern lifestyle. Use it as a luxurious receptacle for your rings or earrings.
-
A Sculptural Accent: Place this single traditional vessel on your modern bedside table or vanity. The striking contrast of the vivid blue and pure white porcelain will instantly bring a beautiful, sophisticated sense of art to your personal space.
