KAMIYO Episode 18: Ayakashikone-no-Kami — The Mysterious Enchantment

Prologue: Paradise in a Glass Case

The world created by Omodaru-no-Kami was at the pinnacle of beauty.

The branching of trees composed in the golden ratio, rock surfaces polished like gemstones, and color placements calculated to perfection.

There was not a speck of "ugliness" to be found anywhere.

However, that perfection radiated a coldness that seemed to reject people.

It was like an exhibit inside a strictly managed glass case.

An overwhelming beauty without warmth, seeming to say, "Do not touch," or "Simply worship from afar."

In a world that was too bright, there were no "shadows" for the heart to rest in, and no "margins" for imagination to enter.

Suffocating perfection. At times, it looked static, like a dead world.

Twilight.

In that world resembling a still image, a change occurred.

From out of nowhere, a bewitching cherry-blossom colored light rose like mist, beginning to vaguely blur the perfect outlines.

"Beauty is complete. But beauty that is too perfect sometimes makes one forget to breathe."

From the depths of the mist came a wondrous sound, like the rustling of silk clothes or the chiming of distant bells.

"To shake the soul from its very depths, another 'Magic' is needed."

Chapter 1: The Manifestation of Ayakashikone

The cherry-blossom mist thickened, and a sweet, slightly dangerous scent filled the air.

From within that phantasmagoric shimmering, a single goddess appeared.

The Sixth Generation of the Kamiyo-nanayo (The Seven Divine Generations), the goddess paired with Omodaru.

Her name is Ayakashikone-no-Kami.

Her appearance was distinct from the goddesses who had come before.

She wore a Juni-hitoe (twelve-layered ceremonial robe) embroidered with cherry blossoms and butterflies, wearing it loosely. Her features were so bewitching that one felt their soul might be sucked away if they looked directly at her.

If Omodaru's beauty was the "Yang" under the sun, her beauty possessed the gravity of "Yin," like a flower blooming in the darkness of a moonlit night.

"Aya" means "Strange" (Ayashi)—that is, something mysterious and wondrous.

"Kashiko" means "Awe" (Kashiko-shi)—that is, something so great it induces fear and reverence.

She crept up behind Omodaru, gazing at his perfect profile, and whispered.

"I am Ayakashikone. I shall bring 'Mystery' that steals the soul to your perfect world."

She had appeared in this world as the incarnation of enchantment beyond reason.

Chapter 2: Profound Shadows, The Beauty of Yugen

The goddess gently waved her long sleeve toward the garden Omodaru had made.

Then, a wonder occurred.

In the world that had been too bright, as if illuminated in every corner, deep "Shadows" were born.

Shadows of leaves drew complex patterns on the ground, and hollows in rocks became darkness, drifting with the presence of "something invisible" lurking there.

Compared to when everything was visible, the landscape now approached with much greater depth, precisely because it was partially unseen.

Omodaru gasped.

"Are you saying there is beauty that appears by hiding it...?"

Ayakashikone smiled, hiding her mouth with a folding fan.

"There is no need to show everything. Because there is a mystery, the heart is deeply attracted, and one wants to chase after it to know the depths."

She gave "Depth" to beauty.

By casting the veil of mystery over beauty that was merely bright, beauty was sublimated from mere visual information into an "Experience" where the heart wanders.

Chapter 3: Awe and Fascination, The Storm of Emotions

The world changed.

The scenery, which had simply been pretty, began to take on a "bewitching" charm.

Touched by that overwhelming beauty, the hearts of all existence in the world began to be disturbed.

"Ah, beautiful... I want it, I must have it!"

"Look at me! I want to touch that beauty!"

Beasts were captivated by beautiful flowers, unable to move from the spot.

Some yearned, some wished to possess, and some despaired that it was out of their reach.

Longing turned to jealousy, love turned to obsession, and a violent storm of emotions whipped up in the world.

"This is... dangerous. Order will be disturbed."

Omodaru frowned, but Ayakashikone remained unmoved.

She accepted even the swirling negative emotions with her bewitching smile.

"Jealousy and madness are the flip side of deep love. Do not fear."

The goddess walked as if dancing among the fighting beasts.

"Energy strong enough to drive the mind mad. That is the proof of being alive. True fascination is not born from tranquility alone."

Intense energy that can be both poison and medicine.

She knew that this was the fundamental form of "Life Force."

Chapter 4: The Climax of Beauty

The vortex of emotions, like a storm, enveloped the world.

Omodaru's "Perfect Form" and Ayakashikone's "Mysterious Magic."

The two elements fused, and the world was colored with dramatic beauty.

In the twilight, the male god and the goddess stood side by side, as if embracing.

Static perfection and Dynamic mystery.

Light and Shadow.

Substance and Phantom.

Omodaru touched the goddess's cheek with a trembling hand.

"I admit it, Ayakashikone. Your mystery has given the 'Pulse of Life' to my beauty. Now, it is complete."

Ayakashikone rested her head on the male god's chest and responded with an enraptured voice.

"Yes. Because your certain form exists, my phantom can take substance."

Outer beauty and Inner mystery.

With the two together, the creation of "Sensibility" in the Seven Divine Generations reached its peak.

The world was now not just a place that existed, but a place that charmed, awed, and was loved maddeningly by those who looked upon it.

Chapter 5: The Path to the Headliners, The Curtain Rises on Creation

The world of the pinnacle of completed beauty.

The two gods looked up at the sky where the cherry-blossom mist was clearing, and nodded with satisfaction.

Their work was done.

The world had its Vessel made (Kuninotokotachi), filled with Qi (Toyokumono), materialized (Uhijini & Suhijini), nurtured Life (Tsunoguhi & Ikuguhi), formed Society (Otonoji & Otonobe), and finally perfected Beauty and Sensibility (Omodaru & Ayakashikone).

All preparations were complete.

Beyond the gaze of the two gods, from the Floating Bridge of Heaven far in the distance, the omen of immense energy—orders of magnitude greater than the gods before—was approaching.

It was the light of the final creation, concluding the long journey from chaos to order.

Omodaru relaxed his lips.

"The stage is set. Let us welcome them with the finest art and the finest production."

Ayakashikone also narrowed her eyes bewitchingly.

"Now, finally, the Headliners (Shin'uchi) appear. The couple gods who will birth the 'Land' in this world and rule over all things..."

The foundation solidified, life was born, genders were divided, and aesthetic sense dwelt.

The lineage of the Kamiyo-nanayo is finally passed on to the final pair of gods who will create heaven and earth and give birth to the land of Japan: Izanagi and Izanami.
