KAMIYO Episode 6: Umashiashikabihikoji-no-Kami — The Pulsating Breath of Life

Prologue: The Silent Cradle
After the Zoka Sanshin (Three Creation Deities) fulfilled their great mission—defining the skeleton and soul of the world—and hid themselves deep within Takamagahara (The High Plain of Heaven).
The lower world they left behind was filled only with a gentle, yet unreliable light.
The earth spreading out below was not yet solid enough to be called "Land."
As recorded in the Nihon Shoki and Kojiki, it drifted aimlessly "like floating fat upon water" or "like a jellyfish."
It was a precarious cradle where water and mud mixed, lacking boundaries, simply wobbling and fluctuating.
There was no sound, no wind, not even the sound of waves.
Complete silence wrapped the world.
However, this was not the silence of death. In the depths of the mud, the energy left by the Creation Deities swirled.
No one yet knew that this silence was a deep breath for the god about to be born—the prelude to a dramatic explosion.
Chapter 1: The Will to Pierce the Mud
In the silence that seemed to last forever, something moved in the depths of the mud.
It was neither light nor shadow, but pure "Heat" and an "Impulse" trying to thrust upward.
The surface of the mud trembled faintly, and ripples spread.
In the next instant, with a watery sound breaking the silence, a single thick, fresh "Reed" (Ashikabi) shot up like an arrow, cracking the mud open.
"Like a reed shoot"—.
It was nothing less than the manifestation of the will of the world itself: "I want to reach the heavens," "I want to grow," "I want to live."
The stem of the reed pushed aside the air in the blink of an eye, growing steadily toward the sky.
The energy of its growth was tremendous, causing the surrounding space to vibrate and buzz.
It was the moment when a new vector—"Vertical Growth"—was born into matter that had been merely mud.
Chapter 2: The Manifestation of Umashiashikabihikoji
When the tip of the fully grown reed was wrapped in pale blue light, swelling like a bud and popping open softly.
From within the light, a single youthful god appeared.
The fourth of the Kotoamatsukami (Separate Heavenly Deities).
His name is Umashiashikabihikoji-no-Kami.
The god born from the reed was the very symbol of vitality.
He was clad in robes of young grass green, his skin shining freshly like a plant stem, and his limbs filled with inexhaustible energy.
In his eyes, unlike the aged Creation Deities, burned the "Joy of Living" and a powerful pulse, reflecting everything in the world that still lacked name and form.
The body of the young god housed a "Vitality of Growth" comparable to creation itself.
Chapter 3: The First Deep Breath and Declaration
The god inhaled the air of the newborn world, filling his lungs.
When he exhaled, his breath became wind, stirring the stagnant air.
Checking the power filling him, he declared quietly, yet with a voice that shook the world.
"I am Umashiashikabihikoji. I am the strong, first breath that has sprouted in this world."
His feet stepped firmly onto the muddy earth.
At that moment, the vitality welling up from the mud spread to the surroundings like ripples, as if responding to him.
Bubbles rose from places that had been mere mud, beginning the signs of life activity.
"Ah... this pulse! The world is throbbing along with me."
A voice that was both delight and astonishment echoed in the void.
The sound of his own heart and the heartbeat of the earth were synchronized. He trembled at that sense of unity.
Chapter 4: Solitude and Determination
But then, he looked around.
There was no one.
The Creation Deities had already hidden themselves, and in this vast sea of mud, he stood alone.
"...Is no one here?"
For a moment, the shadow of solitude crossed his youthful chest.
With whom should he share this energy? To whom should he convey this passion?
The fate of a Hitorigami (Solitary God) is solitude.
However, the god immediately swallowed that sentiment and nodded powerfully.
He knew. He knew that he was a "Seed." A seed endures alone in the soil and eventually creates a forest.
Then, he would fill this world himself.
"This power... I shall use it for the world. I will share this breath of life with the earth, the sky, and everything!"
Chapter 5: Distribution of Life, To the Next God
Umashiashikabihikoji put his whole soul into the feet he planted on the ground.
Thump!!
Green particles of light were explosively released from his body.
"Spread! Fill!"
The vibration became ripples, spreading to the world that continued to waver.
It was not a physical shock, but the propagation of the concepts of "Vigor" and "Vitality."
The distant void trembled slightly, and a faint light was born. It was the sign of the appearance of the next god—Amenotokotachi-no-Kami (Heavenly Eternal Standing God), who supports the heavens.
"Now, the world is just beginning. I shall look forward to the awakening of my brethren who will walk with me."
Leaving those words, the young god gradually made his form transparent.
He did not vanish. Just as a plant withers and returns to the soil to become nourishment for the next life, he too melted into the world, becoming "Life Force" itself.
The vitality he left behind took deep root in the earth, becoming the rich soil that would urge the birth of the gods to follow.
