KAMIYO Episode 11: Uhijini-no-Kami — The Oath to the Mud

Prologue: Fragility Within Abundance
Because Toyokumono-no-Kami had floated clouds in the heavens and brought greenery to the earth, the world had undergone a dramatic transformation.
The world, once dry bedrock, was now moist and filled with the signs of life.
However, just as light casts a shadow, this abundance exposed a new "weakness."
Behold: when the wind blows, the soil on the surface flies up unreliably.
When it rains, the fields that had finally sprouted turn into mire, losing their shape and washing away.
The world was beautifully colored, but its surface was far too fragile.
The particles of soil were disparate and scattered; knowing not how to hold hands with one another, they were simply at the mercy of the changing environment.
"Where should we go...?"
Mixed within the sound of the wind, one could almost hear countless tiny laments.
It was the scream of the dust that could not keep its shape.
Wishing to "stay here" or "become something," yet possessing no means to anchor themselves, it was the earnest prayer of matter scattering into the void.
Chapter 1: The Will of Deep Purple
In the center of that chaotic cloud of dust, a single "Order" was about to be born.
In the midst of the dancing dust, a single point of light ignited.
It was different from the brownish hue of Kuninotokotachi, or the silver of Toyokumono. It was a radiance of deep, dark purple (Kokimurasaki), brimming with nobility and mystery.
The light did not reject the raging wind but rather gently enveloped the soaring soil particles.
As if a magnetic field had been generated, a "center" was born in the disordered space.
There, a powerful will resided—one that had never existed in the world before.
—Give it form.
—Bind the scattered pieces into one.
It was a young and powerful resolution to end the era of mere drifting and to establish a firm "Individuality."
Chapter 2: The Manifestation of Uhijini
The vortex of purple light converged, and from within, a single male god appeared.
The Third Generation of the Kamiyo-nanayo (The Seven Divine Generations). And the one bearing the aspect of the first "Male God" to appear in this world.
His name is Uhijini-no-Kami.
His form was that of a dauntless young god.
He was clad in a dark purple Hitatare (robe). The fabric was embroidered with gold threads mimicking geometric crystal structures and layers of strata, releasing an intellectual shine with every movement.
Differing from the aged dignity of Kuninotokotachi, his eyes harbored a fresh passion, like that of an architect about to assemble the world.
The god stepped firmly onto the unreliable mud beneath his feet and declared with a resonant voice.
"I am Uhijini. I rule the primordial mud (Uiji), and I am the one who gives form to that which exists on earth."
With his arrival, the world was shifting from the era of "Solitary Gods" (Hitorigami) to the era of gods who form pairs. He was the vanguard, the guardian of structure and order.
"O soil, you need not wander anymore. I shall give you a certain form."
Chapter 3: Dialogue of Molecules
Uhijini knelt in the mire.
Not minding the dirt, he gently scooped up the soil that looked ready to fly away in the wind with both palms.
"Do not fear. You are by no means worthless dust."
The god’s gaze was full of compassion. It was also the gaze of a seeker who finds the logic of the universe in a single pebble by the roadside.
In the god's hands, the trembling soil particles regained their calm.
"As a single grain, you are a fleeting existence blown by the wind. But if you take each other's hands and bind together, you gain strength that surpasses even rock. I shall grant you that art."
Uhijini's voice resonated like a physical law itself, transforming the anxiety of the soil into peace.
We can surrender ourselves to this god—the matter instinctively understood this.
Chapter 4: The Miracle of Solidification
"Be bound, children of the soil!"
When Uhijini held his hands over them, an invisible wave was released from his fingertips.
It was "Pressure," and at the same time, "Affinity."
A miracle occurred.
The soil particles that had been floating apart began to draw together as if pulled by invisible threads.
The mud and sand that had been mixed in disorder aligned themselves while drawing beautiful geometric patterns.
The soil, which had been dry and prone to crumbling, took on viscosity, bound strongly together, and transformed into a hard mass.
The god’s expression was pure seriousness, but a satisfied smile, like a craftsman who has produced a masterpiece, floated on his lips.
"Yes, just like that. Even if each one is small, if you are bound together, you become a great power."
Through the god's power, "Density" was born in the diffuse earth.
It was not merely physical solidification. It was the moment when the concepts of "Cooperation" and "Unity" were installed into the world at a material level.
Chapter 5: The Storm of Trials and the Unyielding Wall
However, forces that reject change also exist.
The atmosphere was still unstable, and sudden gusts and heavy rain assaulted the earth just as it began to solidify.
Roaaar!
Driving rain pierced the soil, and the wind raged, trying to undo the bonds.
The ground that had taken such effort to form was about to be turned back into muddy water.
However, Uhijini did not retreat.
He stood like a Deva king in the midst of the storm, beaten by the rain, his eyes gleaming as if welcoming the challenge.
"So it comes, the trial... But the form I have given shall not crumble so easily!"
The god slammed both hands onto the earth.
"Solidify! Under my will!"
Intense energy flowing from the god strengthened the bonds between the soil particles to the limit.
The rain was repelled, and the wind merely slid over the surface.
The mud transformed into "Clay," and then into solid "Strata," becoming a motionless wall amidst the storm.
Chapter 6: Strata of Victory
Eventually, the storm passed.
There lay a strong earth, washed by the rain and shining glossily.
It was no longer the fragile dust of before. It was a reliable earth that returned a firm response when stepped upon.
Uhijini brushed back his wet hair and looked at the solid strata he had created.
His expression shone with the joy of victory, like a leader who has completed a difficult project.
"Behold! Unity that overcomes trials creates true strength."
What he brought was the state of "Primordial Mud" (Uiji), but it was not mere mud. It was a "lump of possibility" that would nurture life, support buildings, and become the foundation of civilization.
Through his unyielding will, the soil evolved from matter into a "reliable foundation."
Chapter 7: The Unfinished Pair, Invitation to the Sister Goddess
Uhijini stood upon the stable earth and gazed into the distance.
His work was to "solidify the soil and give it form." However, with that alone, the world was still rugged and rough.
Hardness alone is brittle. Strength requires flexibility and moisture.
Beyond his gaze, where the twilight approached the horizon, he saw a gentle light of pale purple flickering.
It was the presence of a "Half-body" possessing the same soul as him, yet with contrasting properties.
Uhijini’s chest swelled with expectation, and he gently reached out his hand toward that light.
"Alone, I am still incomplete..."
His voice was imbued with a deep yearning for a partner he had not yet met.
"Suhijini. My beloved sister (Imo). With your gentleness, please polish this rough-hewn earth beautifully."
The Male God creates the frame, and the Goddess colors it.
The system of the "Male and Female Pair," appearing for the first time in the Seven Divine Generations.
It was the opening of a new story where a perfect world, impossible for one alone, is created through the harmony of two.
Beyond the gaze of the God of Mud, the Goddess of Sand is now about to awaken.
