Susanoo standing defiant in mud and tears before Izanagi’s blinding divine wrath, the moment of the father’s banishment decree that severs the bond between them forever in the Age of the Gods

Episode 47: The Cry of Rebellion — "I Want to Go to Ne-no-Katasu-Kuni"

[Prologue] Confrontation in the Rainstorm

Withered mountains and an ocean as muddy as sludge.

Amidst a gruesome landscape where the world was on the verge of reverting to primordial chaos, two mighty gods confronted each other.

The absolute Creator God, Izanagi, who had descended from the heavens, radiated a blindingly pure white majesty that threatened to scorch the world.

That overwhelming divine aura pinned the evil gods summoned by Susanoo's despair to the bottom of the earth, and even the raging rainstorm ceased completely within a radius of several dozen jo around him.

Just outside that barrier of silence, the giant fierce god covered in mud and tears, Takehaya Susanoo-no-Mikoto, was panting heavily with both hands planted on the ground.

The descent of the absolute father.

The intimidation was so profound that even the immensely powerful Three Noble Children would instinctively be forced to prostrate themselves.

However, the dark, fierce flame dwelling in Susanoo's eyes had by no means been extinguished.

More than a primal fear of his father, the "thirst for love" scorching his soul desperately supported his giant, trembling body.

The majesty that rules the world of the living, and the pure despair that seeks the world of the dead.

The most tragic argument between father and son, one that would shake the world of the Age of the Gods, was about to begin.

[Chapter 1] The Father's Logic and the Son's Starvation

"Why do you weep, Takehaya Susanoo?"

Izanagi's low, translucent voice echoed coldly.

"I ordered you to govern the vast ocean. I granted you the power to do so. What you must do is calm the waves, nurture life, and protect the harmony of this Oyashima. Despite that, why do you wail like a child and destroy the world?"

It was a flawless, logical argument from the ruler of the world.

However, to Susanoo's heart, which was suffering from emotional starvation, that logic merely pierced him like a cold blade.

"Harmony...? Nurture life...?"

Susanoo ground his molars and slowly raised his mud-stained face.

"I care nothing about any of that!! Sister was given the shining Takamagahara, and Brother was given the beautiful night sky. But what was given to me is nothing but a dark, cold sea!"

The moment Susanoo roared, the surrounding sea surface swelled as if exploding, and black spray struck the heavens.

"Sister and Brother have the 'light' and the 'silence' to fulfill themselves. But I have nothing! No matter how many waves I raise, no matter how many fish I breed, the wind blowing through this gaping hole in my chest never stops. No matter how much I cry and scream, no one will embrace me!!"

[Chapter 2] The Forbidden Taboo

"Foolishness! For a god to abandon their duties out of personal loneliness is utterly outrageous!"

Izanagi struck the earth violently with the butt of the Heavenly Jeweled Spear.

CRACK!

A sound like a thunderbolt echoed, and an intense pressure battered Susanoo's giant body.

However, Susanoo did not step back a single inch.

With a streak of blood flowing from the corner of his mouth, he finally spat out the maddening obsession that had been burning in the depths of his soul into words.

"Then! I will simply go to the one who loves me!!"

Susanoo spread both arms toward the heavens and let out a heartbroken, blood-curdling scream.

"I want to go! I will abandon this cold world... to Ne-no-Katasu-Kuni, where my late mother resides!!"

—Ne-no-Katasu-Kuni.

That is synonymous with Yomi (the Underworld), the absolute darkness where the dead arrive.

The moment those words were unleashed from Susanoo's mouth, the surrounding air rapidly froze, creating the illusion of cracking with a sharp, splintering sound.

In an instant, all the color drained from Izanagi's face.

The pupils of the creator god, which should have been filled with absolute anger, contracted to their absolute limit, as if locking eyes with an unmentionable monster in the depths of the dark.

[Chapter 3] The Ultimate Trauma Gouged Open

(Ne-no... Katasu-Kuni... you say...?)

The "memories of hell" that he had strictly sealed away violently flashed back into Izanagi's mind.

That day, when he stepped into the world of the dead to bring back his beloved wife, Izanami.

The foolishness of breaking his promise, "Never look upon my figure," and lighting a fire in the darkness.

What emerged in that pale light was not the figure of the beautiful wife with whom he had once birthed the lands and whispered words of love.

Decomposed, melting flesh.

Countless hideous maggots swarming all over her body, squirming with a sickening sound.

"How dare you put me to shame!"

Clad in eight terrifying thunder gods, weeping tears of blood, chasing him from the depths of the earth with an unearthly shriek—that was the figure of his former beloved wife.

"My beloved husband. If you insist on running away, I will strangle to death a thousand of your people each day."

The spine-chilling, absolute curse of death unleashed from across the giant boulder (Chibiki-no-Ishi).

To escape the forces of Yomi, Izanagi screamed in terror and fled back to the world of the living, abandoning all dignity.

An icy chill ran through Izanagi's entire body.

The very reason he had washed his face and given birth to the Three Noble Children was supposed to be to wash away that utterly horrifying

 "defilement of death."

[Chapter 4] A Tragic Misunderstanding

"...Have you gone mad, Susanoo?"

Izanagi's lips were faintly trembling, his teeth chattering.

"For you, a god of the living, to go to the land of the dead...

You have absolutely no idea what kind of place that is!"

Izanagi knew.

Ne-no-Katasu-Kuni was not the "warm place where a kind mother waits" that Susanoo was dreaming of.

It was a hell where only a bottomless hatred for the living and rotted curses swirled.

If Susanoo, a living god, were to set foot in that place, Izanami's curse would overflow onto the surface once again, and this Oyashima would be completely dragged into the world of death.

"Mother must be a kind person! She is only sad because you abandoned her!!"

Susanoo took Izanagi's restraint as nothing more than "the lies of one trying to steal my mother from me."

"I will not abandon her! No matter what form Mother takes, I will never fear her. Because Mother is the only one who will love me for all that I am!!"

Seeing his son's straightforward, overly pure eyes, Izanagi reached a despairing realization.

(This man... is a lost cause. He has the exact same eyes as I did when I headed to Yomi, trapped by the obsession called 'love'.)

Izanagi knew firsthand that pure longing sometimes becomes the worst madness that destroys the world.

His son's innocent cry was equivalent to a death sentence heralling the "collapse of the world" for the father.

[Chapter 5] The Sentence That Brings Eternal Severance

"...That is enough."

All emotion vanished from Izanagi's voice. A voice of absolute zero, where anger, sorrow, and even his affection as a father were completely frozen over.

"F-Father...?"

Susanoo instinctively gasped, feeling the aura rising from his father shift into a cold-hearted rejection bordering on clear "murderous intent."

"What you seek is not love. It is merely compensation for your own weakness, and an ugly obsession that puts the world in danger."

Izanagi raised the Heavenly Jeweled Spear high and ruthlessly pointed its tip at his mud-covered son.

"One who exists in the land of the living yet yearns for the world of the dead has no right to remain in the world of light and life."

Susanoo's eyes widened greatly in despair.

His father, far from trying to understand him, had fundamentally denied his very existence.

"Takehaya Susanoo-no-Mikoto. I banish you from this Oyashima."

Izanagi's sentence—*Kanyarai* (Divine Expulsion)—echoed across the world as an unforgiving thunderclap.

"You are no longer the god who rules the sea. There is no place for you in this country, eternally. If you desire the world of rot and death so deeply... then go to that defiled hell, prepared never to return!!"

The absolute order of banishment issued by the supreme god at the end of a tragic misunderstanding.

The pure fierce god who merely sought love, as the price for his forbidden cry, was eternally abandoned by his father and completely cast out from the world of light.

A despair deeper and darker than the dark clouds covering the sky dyed Susanoo's soul completely black.
