KAMIYO Episode 8: The Covenant of the Kotoamatsukami — The Entrusted Future

KAMIYO Episode 8: The Covenant of the Kotoamatsukami — The Entrusted Future

Prologue: The Circle of Five Lights

At the summit of Takamagahara (The High Plain of Heaven), in the sanctuary located at the highest layer of the universe.

Layers of golden clouds overlapped, and in the center where even time flowed slowly, five distinct lights began to gather quietly.

The pale blue light of balance governing the harmony of all things (Amenominakanushi).

The red-gold radiance birthing structure and energy (Takamimusubi).

The soft pink light nurturing souls and compassion (Kamimusubi).

The young grass green vibrancy surging with the vitality of life (Umashiashikabihikoji).

And the deep navy eternal shine fixing the heavens (Amenotokotachi).

The five gods—the Kotoamatsukami (Separate Heavenly Deities).

It was the first and last time that they, the roots of creation, met together in manifested forms.

The circle of lights pulsed quietly but powerfully, as if symbolizing a wordless covenant.

Chapter 1: The Divergence of Heaven and Underground

The five gods cast their gazes from the rifts in the clouds to the far distance below.

There lay two contrasting worlds.

Looking up, there was the sky fixed by Amenotokotachi, with stars moving regularly. It was a world of completed order.

However, looking down, the earth was still immature.

As recorded in the Kojiki, it shimmered "like floating fat upon water" and drifted unreliably "like a jellyfish."

A soup of mud without form, neither solid nor liquid.

It was not yet something that could be called a "Land."

Amenominakanushi spoke quietly but solemnly.

"Behold. The foundation of heaven is set. But the earth is still young, drifting like a babe."

Chapter 2: From Abstract to Concrete

Takamimusubi stared at the unreliable earth and nodded deeply.

"We have carved the logic (Kotowari) and given the trigger for the beginning. We made the framework and gave energy. But..."

He looked at his own burning hands.

"To physically solidify this earth, turn mud into rock, and truly shape it, our powers are too high-dimensional (abstract)."

Kamimusubi gazed at the swaying earth with eyes full of compassion.

"Indeed. We are like the mother's womb. From here on, it is time to entrust it to gods who are actually born, who know pain, and who possess weight and strength."

They realized.

The role of gods as "Concepts" was over. Next, gods as "Substance" were needed.

Chapter 3: Confirmation of the Ember and the Bridge

Umashiashikabihikoji announced with a youthful voice.

"The ember left by my heat is already sleeping in the mud. It is waiting for the time of explosion. The next awakening has already begun."

They understood that it was no longer the era for them to stand on the front stage.

Not to reign as rulers, but to become the laws (systems) of the world itself, hiding their forms and watching over it.

That was the final role imposed on the roots of creation.

At that moment, Amenotokotachi, the last born, stepped forward quietly.

From the sky he had fixed, he reached out his hand with certain will toward the drifting earth.

"I supported the Heaven. Then next is the Earth. ...O Earth, you too must stand up."

Chapter 4: The Call to Kuninotokotachi

Responding to Amenotokotachi's voice, a heavy presence began to move deep within the mud.

His "Power to make Heaven Stand" was awakening the counterpart "Power to make Earth Stand."

Within the drifting layers, something condensed, and a brownish light flickered.

A sign of rising slowly but surely, accompanied by mass like rock.

"O my counterpart... I wait in the heavens. You, exist on the earth and solidify it."

It was the omen of the existence that would later be called the head of the Kamiyo-nanayo (Seven Divine Generations), Kuninotokotachi.

The Axis of Earth corresponding to the Axis of Heaven.

Confirming that preparations for that birth were complete, the five gods nodded to each other with satisfaction.

Chapter 5: Kakurimi (Hidden Body), To the Ubiquitous Gods

"Let us go. Our seat is not here."

With Amenominakanushi's words, the outlines of the five gods gradually became faint.

They were not vanishing.

It was "Kakurimi" (Hidden Body)—sublimation into existence without form.

Takamimusubi became "Power," Kamimusubi became "Soul," Umashiashikabihikoji became "Vitality," Amenotokotachi became "Law," and Amenominakanushi became "The Universe Itself."

Becoming light, becoming wind, becoming gravity, and becoming the cycle of life itself, they melted into the world.

The era of the great Kotoamatsukami thus quietly closed its curtain.

And the story was securely passed on to the era of the gods who would solidify the drifting earth, form the country, and give "Tangible Reality" to the world—the Kamiyo-nanayo.

The entrusted future has now begun to move.
